The Mom Moment

I went 29 years without being a mom. I was just a wife, sister, daughter, friend - but not a mom.

So sometimes it still catches me off-guard.

Like when I told the lady at the bakery I was taking this cuppycake home to my son. My son. Mine. I'm a mom.

I do the same thing...I'm still surprised when the words "mom" or "my children" come out of my mouth. And it changes us in such inexplicable ways that only another mom/parent can understand.

Love the cupcake.

I'd have gotten one for me too.

Sweet post. I know how you feel. On Jackson's birthday, I was just SO shocked to have a 2 year old. You know?

That's true. Sometimes it's so weird feeling that and hearing that. Like when the doctor's office calls (to confirm an appointment for Hayden) and they say, "is this Hayden's mom?" And indeed I am.

I had a moment like that this week. My little man FINALLY decided to start saying Mama...and NOT to the cats or the dog. He said it to ME! Multiple times! It's so strange and wonderful having a little person call you Mama and the knowledge that you are just that is fantastic. :o)

oh my, i want that cupcake. very badly. your son is so lucky.

the only way i can relate to how you feel is when people would say 'your husband' i still feel somewhat newly wed even though it was 11/08 when we married, but i will never forget when someone first referred to him as "your husband"...

very sweet post. you're such a cool mom as you know.

Yeah I know what you mean. I catch myself saying "my daughter" all the time & I'm just like "Whoa...I can't believe I'm a mom".
