If I look through my followers - half of them are people that don't even blog anymore and have ceased to exist. Because there is no life outside of bloggyland.

And the other half are just giveaway whores enthusiasts. They don't care about my mommy stuff where I stroke my own ego which is fine. Something about getting the milk for free and cow or something.
So on a super fantastic day - where I get a MILLION comments to make my day - that is only actually 25 comments. But that's 25! 25 is awesome to me. Especially since this time last year it was 14 comments. And 2 years ago - 2 comments. So I'm totally a big deal now with my 25 comments.
And I like being friends. And I'm not always the best about answering your emails - I try really really hard. I can't imagine having 300+ comments.

I'm good with mediocrity. I don't want someone to stop by here and say she already has too many followers - she wouldn't notice me - I would! really - leave a comment - say hello.
And if you are a new blogger - stick with it. Really - it takes time to make friends. Unless you are a giveaway blog or a craft blog then everyone wants to be your "friend".

Congrats :) I haven't gotten anywhere close to that, but I'm hoping eventually!
LOL.... you know im your friend.. through thick and thin... lol... i feel the same way sometimes.... HUGS!!!
love this post!
I wish I had more blog friends... not for the followers, but because I really love the ones that I do have. Especially you:-)
i totally know what you mean and I don't even have the theoretical 426 followers (I think I have a little over 200). But in general the most comments I receive is about 22 - and that's okay with me. I try to respond to all the comments I receive. I try to read all the blogs of people who read and comment on my blog. If I received a whole lot of comments (like 30, 40, or 50) and tried to read a whole bunch more blogs then I think I would crack under the stress (and pressure that I put on myself).
Blogging can be a lot of "work" if you put the effort and time into it.
Getting 20 comments is a lot and it tells you that 20 people genuinely had something to say about what you wrote - those are 20 noteworthy connections. And that is definitely something to enjoy and appreciate.
I'm actually a giveaway prude...I just like reading you for you and I only enter if the giveaway is REALLY cool!
You are doing much better than me! You are almost the only person who comments on my blog, but that is okay because I use my blog as a place to go when I forget what happened and when. LOL It is basically my journal! I do appreciate that you comment almost every time though! <3
I agree, you have to stick with it.
I love where I am today, the growth was fun and I now feel content.
I don't know what I would do if I was getting 300 comments a day because I love the one on one with my blog friends.
That number is good. I only have 10 followers! And the comments thing...I only get 2 at the most & have for the past 2 years, so 25 is an awesome number! I am your friend...or at least I like to think so. I was your friend before the giveaways & such.
Where's the like button??? Oh wait this is Blogland.... not face book. :)
I haven't got over 20 comments in a long time. I just don't have the time or energy to read hundreds of blogs anymore. That is the only way to build readership. I guess I am getting lazy about the blog thing. I do appreciate you and the other few people that read every day no matter what. I would be depressed without you.
I just reached 100 followers without doing a single giveaway. I am pretty proud of that.
I try not to let my number of followers get me down because then I might feel like a total loser...a whopping 47 and that's AFTER two years! Great post, loved it. I get excited about comments too.
we like being your friend too!!!!
I have to admit that I do enter the giveaway if it is something that my family can use or would love.
But even though I don't comment much, I do read every newsletter that I am subscribed to.
Over the past few years I have laughed with these bols, cried with these blogs, prayed for help and healing and when ever possible I donate as much as possible to some of the cuases. Such as a sick child and medical expenses.
So even though I rarely comment I am still involoved.
I am a real friend. Well, except for the fact that you don't know em =) I actually comment less on funny blogs (like yours!) because I feel too much pressure to say something witty. :)
But, umm, hiii!
(That was witty, right?)

When my followers and comments started increasing, I was all excited. I wanted them to keep growing and be a big shot blogger.
Now I'd be happy with 25 people who actually read my stuff, not that I get that. What I'm saying is I'd rather have a few people who care rather than hundreds who say they'll be back and never return.
Hey, I'm thrilled when I get even 10 comments! I love your blog...you always make me laugh...and lets face it, who doesn't like to laugh? Maybe the Grinch...but he's not even real, so he doesn't count.
The most comments I've ever had is like 4. And that's because I responded to two different people on the same post...LOL. But seriously...I don't think I'd want 300 comments. That takes up a lot of time to reply.
That's why I took my follower widget down! It was just a number.
Agreed-- most of my followers come from giveaways. And I always get the most comments when something really bad or really good happens. Since I don't normally live in such extremes, I usually only get like 5 comments a post.
Hey Brandy! I just wanted to let you know that I'm not just a follower, I consider you a friend. I'm always reading out your posts to my hubby and kids - they love them as much as I do :) So keep it up girl!
BTW I won one of your giveaways!!!! Yay! Lori at Spell it Out is making me some gorgeous stationery and when I get it I'm going to blog about it so stay tuned :)
LOL.....so true.
Except I think you just called me a possibly non-existant giveaway whore.
;o)
Great of you to address this, but DO NOT see it as mediocrity...it's actually QUALITY!
Prefer to get comments from people who actually enjoy what you have to say or what you give away. It takes time to build a great following. You're on the right track, keeping it honest...I think that's what people truly want. I love your posts, you're hilarious!
Thought I'd add a comment to get your #'s up. Ha ha! Love this post. Thad always teases me that we need more "friends" on our blog, I am all about laying low. It's about quality, not quantity. You are so funny . . . "LIES!"
I know what you mean on the giveaways! I like to have readers who actually read my stories. :)
Ha!Ha! I think I've only entered one of your giveaways! I just don't have time:( I need to sew....
Ha, giveaway whores!!
Mine is full of lies too. Lies and fake friends.
And I'm happy to get 15 comments as a good day. I'd like to have about 50 every post, because I write only quality stuff you know...
i enter all of your contests, am I a contest whore?
im deeply offended, lol.
i also comment on other stuff too, im confused as to whether or not im actually welcome.
:P
I love this post. It is allllllll about quality, not quantity. Although quantity with quality would be nice too. But definitely quality trumps quantity. And now I have thoroughly confused myself and am going to bed.
Here's a thought - if you don't want giveaway whores coming to your blog, then don't do giveaways. Enjoy your precious handfull of "real friends". Advertisers really appreciate real, true friends on blogs, not thousands of contest whores seeing their ads. So your blog should do very well and make lots of money for you with your real, true friends. But I guess you really just want to post pictures of your children and stroke your own ego with your blog, so rock on and enjoy!
So this is what goes on when I go on vacation? Wow!
I follow because I like what you blog about I have never entered one of your giveaways but that does not mean I wont
you missed the point that google friends connect doesn't require to have a blog
I am a contest *whore* who reads mommy / baby related blogs all the times and have bought from sponsors - but you owe us all a big fat apology - and until then good luck blogging for your inner circle
