Things that work. ish. Ghetto style

Hi! Today's post is about stuff I do to make my life a little easier. I work - Chris works - Grayson works (he's a destroyer)

First - this coat rack is awesome. Please ignore the ugly 80s wallpaper in our rental house. Thanks. A coat rack is great because purses / bags / diaper bags go there. Yes it still accumulates unneccessary things like old shirts and Chris's crap. But better there than on the floor.

We've never lived in a house with stairs. Especially with a young baby/toddler. We were great for a little bit with just a baby gate. Then Grayson decided he could fit through the side slats. So this is what we came up with. A lattice piece from Home Depot. Held on with zip ties. We like to keep things glamorous.

Another fun little thing I've done is this picture thing. Walgreens always has 8x10 collages on sale or even free. I like to order these - then I use the sticker magnets on the back to hold it on the fridge.

Laundry. Laundry probably deserves its own blog post. This rod is in the door of the laundry room. As work clothes come out of the dryer - I immediately hang them up. No wrinkles. The work clothes do not always make it from this rod to the upstairs closet though.
A basket in the kitchen for all the lids / tops / toddler cup accessories. I LOVE baskets.

We also have areas that do not work. Obviously I just need a bigger basket.

I also have to deal with a toddler that loves to move furniture - can you spot his kitchen chair and upside down potty? This room never stays clean. Grayson has his own playroom but just uses it for storage. He'd rather bring everything into the living room.

It's amazing how much of a mess comes from something so little.
Share your stuff with me. What have you found that works?

LOVE the cups and lids idea!
Are you sure you didn't sneak into my house and take pictures of my living room? It's crazy isn't it...I try to clean up after his bed time every night, but the moment that boy's eyes open it's the same as it was the day before!

Love the basket idea. I'm buying one today for all the bottle lids.

And I happen to really like that 80's wallpaper...does that make me weird? :)

A child changes everything :o I remember those days. Just embrace them because they do pass quickly.

I have a slight basket obsession as well. My husband has told me, in not so many words, that if I bring one more basket in this house, he is moving out. ha! I should call his bluff one day!

I use that same basket (your kitchen one) to corral bath toys. It's plastic, so it washes up easily! I also found a great etsy site that sells little chalkboard stick-on labels. I put them on cutesie cloth square catch-alls to label what's in there before putting them on a shelf. I can erase the label any time I change what is thrown in the basket!

A fun idea I use to keep my son from going through ALL my cupboards within his wee reach is I dedicate one to him. He can open it up and rummage through all the good stuff I stock it with when ever he wants. I change up the items every now and then and he loves discovering something new in "his door". He stashes all kinds of things in there that I find later and chuckle.
