I'm linking up with Mimi today. It's been a little while since I did a little F bomb action.
But today is a serious one! I'm sure you all remember Grayson's transition to a toddler bed - since it was um - yesterday. Well I was googling to include a link for you guys and found out his bed has been effin' RECALLED! WTF! I thought it was just the drop-side ones but NO - it's all models because of the metal tubular railing crap. Which can apparently collapse and cause entrapment and suffocation.
So of course I told my BBC ladies and Katherine (she has the same toddler bed) and was trying to rationalize to myself that it would be ok to keep it.How my brain thinks:
1 - I just got Chris to put the effin bed together 7 months later - what is the likelihood I'll get him to take it apart - take it back - and put a new one together?
2 - Grayson is fully mobile - and if the bed collapsed - he's not an infant - he would be able to move his head to breath or whatever.
3 - His bed is in our room - I would know if it "collapsed"
4 - I LOVED his crib - I fought hard for this particular crib - I love it even more as a toddler bed - with the full back and full sides.
So last night I let him sleep in the Death Trap. And I got NO sleep. I heard every move and creak - real and imaginary. Visions of entrapment and mangled arms and collapsed tubing danced in my head. I just can't do it. Because all of those What-Ifs.
The bed is going back. I fell in love with another one on Target Online. Unfortunately it's online only - so that would leave Grayson bedless for a week while it shipped to us. I REALLY hate to put Grayson back in our bed since the transition went so well so far.
I'm going to Target when I get off work today to see what they have in stock. And go from there.

It's possible that you have even worse luck than me... and that is pretty hard to top.
Ugggg what a pain in the ass!!! I hope the transition is easy for him. It's better you just get a new one than lying awake every night waiting for his bed to fall all to pieces.

We're taking Ethan's apart tomorrow morning, taking it back to Target, getting another one, and putting it together BEFORE nap.
I LOVE the one you posted, but there's no way I could have no bed for a week! Ethan isn't going to sleep in his pack in play. He'll climb right outta there....causing a falling on his head issue. And he won't sleep with us!
I just pray our target has something I'm happy with! I LOVE this crib, too....
My reasoning is that Ethan has been fine so far....but the what-ifs get me every time!
You could just let him sleep on the mattress on the floor in the mean time. BTW-Ethan slept on the floor in front of his door all last night because he cried when I tried to get him to sleep in his toddler bed :(
I have that bed too, except in black. We are keeping ours and for many of the reasons you have mentioned. However, we are not using it at the moment. We borrowed a toddler bed from my aunt as soon as I heard about the recall. So therefore, we won't be using it again until we turn it into a full size bed, which of course will be a while from now.
That just figures, doesn't it!? Best wishes and I hope that it comes really quick!
yikes. this recall stuff is scary! especially when it is your little one! i mean, if it were my own bed being recalled i'd probably take the risk...
love the new bed though!!
Stupid manufacturers making death traps left and right for babies!! I don't get how it happens over and over again!!
Our crib was one of the Graco dropsides and was recalled awhile back! Such a pain!!!
Such a fantastic transition Grayson did and now this! I feel for ya.
you gotta be kidding - of course no way considering how awful this is - so sorry! I hope tarJ comes through for you tonight - so you do not have to wait.
On the lighter side - it's lucky you were able to fall in love with another bed so quickly!
With all the recalls recently I keep dreading ours is going to be one of them. Hope you find another one you like!

And, girl, that is a PERFECT F bomb. I have a bed fbomb too but I can't talk about it. Well, actually, maybe I could, I just wouldn't use names. Okay, I'm gonna do that. :)
