Photography DRAMA

I have issues.

I love getting our family pictures done but I can't find "the one" You know - the ONE photographer that is affordable and professional and timely and talented. And I want a CD with rights. And AFFORDABLE.

G's newborn pictures were taken at JCP. HATED them. I'm just not a fan of studio shots.

Then I found a girl in my hometown that took TONS of photos but had shoddy editing.

Then I found a girl via Craigslist. LOVED her face off. She met all my criteria. She caught "the shot" and had mad editing skills. I used her for G's 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 1 year. And every time she got just a little less afforable. And because she was that talented - she got too expensive.

I cheated on her with a new girl - met through a friend of a friend - and she was affordable and mad skillz. She did G's 18 month pictures. Then she decided to be weird (became a swinger) and not pursue photography anymore. *sigh*

Then I found another chick. Who I kinda liked ok. She did G's 2 year pictures. I'm not sure why I didn't just go with her again but she was a little on the pricey side.

So another photog - who did a friends pictures. I had such high hopes. Then she rescheduled our first appointment without me even knowing until I messaged her at 2pm THAT DAY.

Finally a new appt - which she was late to.

THEN turnaround was supposed to be 2-2.5 weeks. (TOTALLY UNDERSTAND)

BUT no pictures until OVER a month later. AFTER I bugged her 3 days in a ROW!

And I'm super mad. Because I WANTED to like her. I WANTED to be photog besties. But I just can't.

the photog turned swinger is still my favorite story! I've lucked out in EP and found a photog I love for super cheap with awesome editing and the full CD. but she moves in 4 months. and we do too. not to the same place. boo hiss.

Soooo...I totally suck because the only professional photos we've ever had of the kids or family are those $10 sittings where you get a free photo (and then you can order a whole lot more that were taken during the sitting if you want to but I never do). So don't ask me for advice about fabulous shots and great editing. But I suspect it's quite expensive so I guess you might have to just bite the bullet and pay for it :(

wow, really - I totally failed in this area...we only had family photos professionally taken about six times when my son was little. After that, it was just stupid school photos and ones that we took ourselves. When he was 15, we had an aspiring professional take them-he gave us the CD with all his photos and about 2 hrs of time shooting, did a pretty good job....and I saved 4 photos on my computer to email with family-and then LOST THE CD!!!!!!!!!
I'm a horrible mom sometimes.

You poor thing! I am just happy that my sister-in-law does ours for us! Otherwise, I am certain that we would be in the same boat!! Hope you find THE ONE soon!

When my children were growing up you either went to Sears or Penney's. The other photographer were way expensive. You have had so many wonderful photos taken of Grayson. Sorry it's so hard to find a good one who is priced write and responsible.
Merry Christmas!

Finding a good photographer is a pain in the rear. We are SO lucky to have found our girl. She only does it on the side, but she takes great photos, edits wonderfully and her prices are awesome. I don't know what we would do if we lost her.

As a photographer, I gotta say its a delicate balance between covering your time and expenses while still remaining affordable. Glad you recognize the value of good photography...if you lived closer I'd be your photographer :-)
